Building a home extension or a garden room?

With the rise in popularity of home and garden programmes like “George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces” or “My Flatpack Home”, many householders would also like to create more space at home.  However, if your budget is limited but you have a garden of a reasonable size, you may wish to consider building a garden room or a garden studio.  A garden room may set you back as little as half of the price of building a modest single-storey extension on the side or back of your house.

The vast majority of single-storey garden rooms will not require planning permission, providing the height of the construction is less than 2.5m high.  There are many firms specialising in this kind of construction.  Assembly is usually made up of pre-fabricated and highly insulated panels and triple glazing.  Electrics are standard and, if bathroom and toilet facilities are also required then all the plumbing and pipe work for this will also be included.  With simple lines and modern glazing, most garden rooms are an attractive feature to any garden as well as being highly practical and useful.  Whether your garden room is used as an extra room for house guests or as an office in which to work from home, a hobby room, home gym or a music room, you will wonder however you managed without one.
