Different Styles of Garden Gates

Garden gates come in so many different styles in various shapes, sizes and finishes. If you have your mind set on something in particular there will be a shop out that that will sell it; the choice is enormous and many gates are now custom made to order to fulfil customers’ requirements down to the very last detail. As the customer, you have a wide choice of products and will be able to get what you need to suit your property and front or back garden.

People will often have a range of gates around their properties, especially if it is quite large and has a sizeable garden. There will often be a driveway gate, a front garden gate, a side gate and gates into the back garden as well. Replacing all of these gates can be tricky but it is easy enough with the array of garden gates that are available to order online. These are some of the most popular materials:

  • Steel gates. This is a popular material due to its strength and durability. When you invest in a steel garden gate, you know you will have it well into the future. Steel gates are highly reliable and prove to be very good value for money.
  • Wrought iron gates. This style of gate is more design led and will create a certain aesthetic. You may have a cottage or period property that would be perfectly complemented by a wrought iron garden gate. That’s not to say they can’t be paired very successfully with modern properties too – wrought iron garden gates are very versatile. Look out for options that have been made by skilled craftsmen so that their traditional beauty will shine through in their design and appearance. One of the great benefits of wrought iron gates is that they come in so many different designs and are highly customisable so there will be lots of choice if you are the kind of customer who has very specific requirements.
  • Wooden garden gates. For a traditional timber look, nothing can beat a wooden gate. Side garden gates are often made from wood and there are often different heights of gate available. Wooden gates can provide a lovely ‘secret garden’ kind of aesthetic and the level of detail that goes into their craft is high. Wood is also a very strong material to use for a gate so if you are looking for reliability and want to get value for money (which doesn’t necessarily mean going for a cheap gate but instead, a quality one) then this could be the answer.
  • Aluminium garden gates. Similar to steel, aluminium gates capitalise on the strength and versatility of metal. The main advantage of aluminium is that it is lightweight and easy to open but also will not rust – a major advantage for any customer considering a metal gate for their garden. Aluminium is also a very durable material and will not require much in the way of maintenance either, and it can last for many years.
