Decking is made up of a combination of decking boards, and decking components such as steps, platforms and railings to make the space safe and easily accessible. Often the cheapest way to buy decking boards is to get them from a timber supplier online, but the trouble with this is that you won’t be able to see them before you decide which ones to buy. That’s fine if you are an experience buyer of decking boards, but not so much if you intend to install them yourself and have never done so before.
If possible, go and look for decking boards in a supply or gardening shop before you decide which ones you want to buy. This will show you the different colours and finishes available, so you can see which looks you like. It also lets you check the texture – some boards will be anti slip and others won’t be, meaning you can select ones that will be practical for you and your needs.
